This message was sent to all K–12 and County Offices of Education (COE) Course Approval Coordinators and Adult Education Directors.

Dear Adult Educators:

The online Course Approval System for the 2026–27 program year is now open. Access the system with your Adult Education Online Application and Reporting site (reporting site) login to submit courses. 2026–27 Course Approvals are due to the California Department of Education (CDE) no later than June 15, 2026. Agencies have until March 31, 2027, to make revisions for courses offered in that year. An exemption for non-instruction is available.

This system was established pursuant to California Education Code (EC) Section 52506 as a way for kindergarten through grade twelve (K–12) and County Office of Education (COE) adult schools to secure annual course and program approval. Lack of compliance with this state requirement could jeopardize future funding (EC Section 52515).

By now, all K–12 and COEs should have:

• obtained access to the Course Approval System.
• established an OAR Administrator responsible for managing agency user access.
• identified a Course Approvals Coordinator who serves as the agency contact for course approvals and has access to the online system.

If your agency has not completed these activities or still needs initial access to the reporting site, please take a few minutes to complete the New Agency Request Form. This form provides the details required for user account creation.

If you are a new Course Approval Coordinator and need user access please contact your OAR Administrator. If you are unsure who that person is for your organization, we can help. Please contact your Adult Education Office (AEO) Regional Consultant for further assistance.
